I own a Macbook Air and wanted to extract an OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion InstallESD.dmg from the Air. However as OS X 0.8 Mountain Lion came installed on my Macbook Air i could not obtain the InstallESD.dmg from the App Store. So i needed some way to obtain the InstallESD.dmg, this would allow me to burn it to disc (if my Air had a DVD drive) create an installable USB stick for OSX or simply create an ISO so i can burn the install DVD on Windows. It turns out you can extract a full OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion install disc from your Macbook Air / Pro quite easily. I found some old instructions on Macworld aimed at doing the same for OSX Lion on a Macbook Pro also worked for OSX Mountain Lion on my Macbook Air. Here is how i obtained my InstallESD.dmg From my Macbook Air: 1. Open the Terminal, and type this command to list all partitions on your hard drive or SSD: diskutil list 2. Look for ‘Recovery HD’ in the list, and note its identifier. It will be something of the form diskXsY, where X and Y are numeric digits, for me the identifier was disk0s3 3. Type the following…
The Bizhub C250 Printer by Konica Minolta has no official Windows 8 drivers yet, apparently some updated Windows 8 drivers will be released in July 2013 if all goes to plan. However I can confirm that the Windows 7 drivers appear to work perfectly on Windows 8. I tested the Bizhub C250 on a Windows 8 64bit install using the Windows 7 64bit drivers. Our setup consists of a networked Bizhub C250 with a static IP address. The Bizhub C250 driver installer found the printer on the network, installed the drivers and set its self as the default printer. After that everything worked the same as it does on our Windows 7 machines, including the various overlays we had created. Hopefully this post will be of use to people wondering if the Bizhub C250 will work on Windows 8. Doom 3 the epic science fiction horror first-person shooter game, originally released in 2004 on PC has now been ported to Android. Doom 3 is set in 2145 on Mars, where a military-industrial conglomerate has set up a scientific research facility to research into fields such as teleportation, biological research and advanced weapons design. However, the teleportation experiments inadvertently open a gateway to Hell, resulting in a catastrophic invasion by demons. The Android Port of Doom 3 requires a high end Android device to play smoothly. A nice bonus is the Doom 3 Android port even has functional network play. I was successfully able to use my Android device to play multiplayer with Doom 3 running on my Windows 8 based PC. I imagine this will also work over the internet if you can manage to enter your serial number on the Android version of the game. I tested the Doom 3 Android port on my Asus Transformer Prime Android Tablet. With the lighting effects switched off the game ran rather smoothly, even with 4x AA (anti analysing) enabled. If rumours are to be believed Microsoft wants to expand its Xbox brand with two new Xbox consoles, one would be the next-gen Xbox we’re awaiting to be announced, the other one would be a new redesign of the Xbox 360 as an Xbox 360 set-top box You might think so what, the Xbox 360 gets another redesign? however here’s were things get a bit interesting. The redesigned Xbox 360 model would be marketed as a Xbox 360 set-top box product, like the Apple TV, however with the ability to play Xbox 360 games from the hard drive. The redesigned Xbox 360 would not have a DVD drive so all content would have to be purchased from Xbox Live. This is where the always connected ideas could be coming from, as this would essentially be a Xbox 360 set-top box streaming device which is capable of playing download only version’s of retail Xbox 360 games, along with arcade games.
