Outlook.com (Hotmail) setup with IMAP in the Apple OSX Mail App. By default if you want to access your Outlook.com / Hotmail or MSN email account in the OSX Mail app you had to do it with POP. Using POP is not ideal as it simply downloads the massage from the Outlook servers. You can not organise your email and sync changes back to Outlook, and between devices such as your desktop pc, laptop and mobile. Although not as good as Exchange Active Sync which is supported by most smartphone and Outlook 2013 on Windows, Mac OSX users can now use IMAP to sync mail to OSX. Outlook.com IMAP settings: Incoming IMAP Server: imap-mail.outlook.com Server port: 993 Encryption: SSL Outgoing SMTP Server: smtp-mail.outlook.com Server port: 587 Encryption: TLS Setting up OSX Mail using IMAP for Outlook.com: Open Mac Mail, from the File menu, choose Add Account then enter your Hotmail, Outlook or MSN email address and password, finally clicking continue. So what is Forefront? basically think of it as free antivirus for Windows Server, like Microsoft Security Essentials is for client versions of Windows. As you might know Security Essentials refuses to install on Windows Server, however this will install perfectly on Windows Server with no problems. Once installed you will receive virus definition updates through Windows Update, just as Security Essentials does. So you have me interested, how do i go about installing? First you will need to open your en_forefront_client_security_x86_x64_cd_x13-62435.iso which can be downloaded from Technet or MSDN, go in to the /CLIENT/X64/ folder and extract MP_AMBITS.MSI. A good application that will extract content from ISO’s is WinRAR: Next click on MP_AMBITS.MSI and it will automatically install: After Forefront has installed on Windows Server you will be notified no new definitions or updates are available, don’t worry that is normal: Now load Windows Update from the start menu and click on “Findout more” where it says “get updates for other Microsoft Products”: A webpage will load up you will need to agree to the terms for Microsoft Update, then click the install button: All been well you should get a message saying Microsoft Update was successfully installed: Now load Windows Update again and you will see…
In the Xbox Version of Xbox Media Centre (XBMC) DVR-MS playback worked perfectly in the builds compiled around May 2007, however after that I’m guessing the mplayer.dll was updated. In later XBMC builds when fast forwarding or skipping through a video it just skipped to the end of the video. DVR-MS playback is a nice addition in XBMC for myself as i can playback TV recorded on my PC with Windows Media Center. Luckily this can easily be fixed by replacing the mplayer.dll in XBMC/system/players/mplayer/ with the one included in this post. That’s it, the fix is as simple as that, I can confirm this works perfect on the XBMC for XBOX 8.10 codenamed Atlantis build (T3CH XBMC 2008-11-13 8.10 PROPER) If you want to help try get this fixed in future builds reply to my topic on the XBMC Forums and to this bug report here, hopefully one of the developers will take note and working DVR-MS playback can be implemented in later builds. The working mplayer.dll can be downloaded from Digiex.
